The Bahamas GodParent Center in Nassau, Bahamas is a faith-based, non-profit pregnancy resource and youth center offering support, education and resources to men, women and youth facing unplanned pregnancies.The prevention arm called Students4Life shares the realities of sexual activity and the benefits of forming healthy families. The organization teaches how to identify and build healthy relationships, provides training in character building and life skills, explains the consequences of sexual activity outside of marriage and explains the consequences of family fragmentation on child and family well-being. The program also defines the characteristics and benefits of healthy family formation.
The Center uses the Abstinence Clearinghouse's brochure, The Truth About STD's, in the classroom to inform students about the risks of contracting STD's. The students are able to see the value in waiting for marriage and abstaining from ALL sexual activity until after marriage. "The brochures are helping to change the minds of the young people on abstaining," Youth Education Director Audra Darville told Clearinghouse staff.
