Senate Bill 99 passed in the state of Montana allowing parents of K-12 children to opt out of sex education courses. The bill states that schools must annually notify parents if their child is going to be exposed to sex education in an assembly, organized school event or in a classroom setting.
Schools must also make all sex education curriculum materials available for public inspection, and districts are barred from allowing health care providers that provide abortion services, such as Planned Parenthood, to provide students with any materials or instruction.
