Netflix continues to release controversial and explicit content. Last year, they released Cuties, a French film featuring a group of 11-year-old girls doing many sexually explicit actions on camera. On Christmas Day, Netflix released its newest hit show, Bridgerton, based off the book series by Julia Quinn. It has been trending at #1 on Netflix since its release. However, we urge caution before you or your teen sign on to watch the latest hit.
Bridgerton is written and produced by Shonda Rhimes, the former writer and producer for the raunchy ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Since Netflix is not subject to the same standards as network television, Bridgerton is even more explicit than Grey's Anatomy. It is rated TV-MA for sex, nudity, sexual violence, language and smoking. Netflix executives are struggling to keep sexual scenes from Bridgerton off of Pornhub.
If you're looking for a more enjoyable, wholesome historical show to watch, you may want to try out Pride and Prejudice for now.
