New findings according to the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) from 2015 was just released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
An area that saw the most decrease in percentages was teens abstaining from sex - 28% of teens have never participated in sex. That equates to 6 out of 10 teens making a conscious decision to live a healthy and positive lifestyle before marriage. Thanks to the help of parents educating their children on abstinence and sexual integrity, we hope this number continues to drastically decline!
Some other statistics from the report include:
- Smoking was cut in half since 1997, from 44.5% to 18.5%
- Physical fights have decreased dramatically from 16.2% in 1993 to 7.8% in 2015
- Alcohol use decreased from 81.6% in 1991 to 63.2% in 2015
These statistics show how teens are choosing to make good choices now that will affect them positively in their future.
